Apart from popular haunts like Parkmall, Millenia Walk and The Furniture Mall, there are actually plenty of cool furniture and home accessories stores around town. Take for example Club Street/ Ann Siang Road.

A walk through this small lane, which is hidden away from the bustling and and noisy South Bridge Road, reveals some of the lesser-known (at least to most consumers) furniture and homeware stores that stocks, well, cool furniture and furnishings. Furniture shop Exit sells some quality replicas of popular design classics from the 50's - 70's eras, as I've reported in an earlier post. From DCW by Charles and Ray Eames to the Swan Chair by Arne Jacobsen, this store is the perfect place to shop for your favourite period classics - at down-to-earth prices.

Neighbour Vanilla Home specialises in opulent yet understated furniture, decorative lighting (man, I like their table lamps so much) and accessories from renowned European brands. Beautifully designed, the wares here are equally finely finished, although the prices will most probably burn a big hole in your pocket. Nevertheless, it's still worth a visit by the most discerning of buyers...

A surprise find across the street is the yet-to-be-opened Flos showroom. Well, one can expect nothing less than the hip and stylish designs by Phillipe Starck and company when it opens its doors for business - in the very near future...? least the signage is already up.

And if you are into the contemporary Scandinavian look, Style:Nordic, located further down at the far end of Ann Siang Hill, offers the latest furniture and accessory collections by designers hailing from Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Aside from the pretty and functional furniture and lighting ranges on display, their collection of fabrics in bold graphical prints is also worth checking out.
