NOMINATE FOR THE 10 MOST INFLUENTIAL DESIGN BLOGGERS!

After reading NorthxEast's 'Fifty Most Influential Bloggers', we felt so inspired to conduct a survey to find out the same for our design blogging world. Let's face it - there are too many design bloggers out there, each with their own distinctive style and voice. But we never know who, in most bloggers' and readers' hearts, the movers and shakers of the design blogging world are. Simply because nobody has ever bothered about finding out?

While you may have certain standards of your own, I believe the most popular and influential bloggers always share one thing in common and that is to show a passion for what they are doing. Of course, sharing opinions and information in an unique and refreshing tone with the readers is a prerequisite, and will almost definitely keep the latter coming back for more. Also, when we are talking about something as subjective as design, we understand that the taste level of the blogger will certainly be under intense public scrutiny. Needless to say, it's tough being a design blogger these days, not to even mention becoming a highly influential one.

So, let's do this together, people. We sincerely invite bloggers, readers (and whoever stumbles upon our blog) to send us an email to nominate the design bloggers (blogs) whom (which) you think fit the bill - kindly keep your list within five candidates. We will tally up the total number of votes by 15th October 2007, and we'll have an answer finally! We'll follow up shortly after the voting ends with a post to share with you who they are. How's that? Sadly there'll be no prizes for voting, but surely reading about how other bloggers succeed is an instant gratification?

So please, get your fingers working, and drop us an email or comment now! Most importantly, do kindly spread the word about this survey around. We'll be hearing from you!

Hi again, just to update you people, the response to the nomination has been overwhelming! In just one short day! My email is literally jammed up now...

To clarify further, we are looking for the most INFLUENTIAL design bloggers and blogs. So kindly take some time to think about your choices before submission. We know you'd most probably be voting for your personal favorites or the blogs that you visit regularly. But don't forget about those whom (which) you think offer original thoughts and unique perspectives too.

But no matter what, do continue to spread the word around and keep your votes coming. We'll be counting!!!:)

I feel this can only be a popularity contest, with blogs declaring 'vote for me" and others most likely sending emails asking for votes. It will therefore be meaningless as votes are aggressively solicitated by some and not by others.

Oh, I SEE anonymous strikes again, ignore him, sour grapes.

ahh. it's just for FUN. when it gets down to it, we're all a bunch of wind bags who are directing our passion for design toward written form.

this group of bloggers, seems to be a really encouraging, nice group of people. i'm influenced and taught something new everytime i 'tune' in to a blog.

maybe we'll all be introduce to new blogs that were not previously on our radar.

If a blog is not "popular" than why read it. And with your attitude nothing would happen in the Blogging world. You can't even leave your name. I think it is great that The Home Rejuvenation Blog is sponsoring this award and they deserve not to be labelled as awarding "meaningless votes"

my vote goes to "teamdustrial"...it's written in Portuguese, has no adds or pop ups, the people who write in it are recent graduated designers and do use the blog to post their work & other stuff they love :)

Ps: ok i'm a member... there are loads of other great blogs but that was the first one to pop into my mind :)

no one would have a design blog unless they were passionate about it ~ so that isn't what makes one blogger more influential or popular than another. ultimately design is about personal preferences & needs, and design blogging is about sharing that. i certainly hope it isn't about reading what's most popular but instead about reading what you enjoy & what inspires you most, regardless of how many other readers there are. ultimately i think we all try to enrich each other, and that's what makes design blogging so great. i think the bloggers who approach design as an encouraging & uplifting experience (rather than creating odd competition between) are truly the great ones.
sfgirlbybay, oh happy day, design*sponge, 90/10 rule, oh joy!, & design mom are just a few wonderful examples of this.
thanks so much for bringing this up!

This Anonymous person is mean. If you don't believe in the integrity of this contest, DON'T vote.

Oh love this!
For innovative and influential blogs, I vote for Decor8, Design*Sponge, and Terramia (even if on sabbatical)!
There are plenty of blogs out there that just display pictures for eye candy, (like Desire to Inspire etc) and therefore lack real ingenuity, original thoughts and unique narratives. It -is- important to weigh your submissions carefully.
That's my two cents!!
Happy Bloggin!!

I think it's a great idea and a great way to expose all the wonderful design blogs that exist to a wider audience! Thank you for sponsoring this fun contest. My votes are in!

great idea on the blog vote, i think this is also encouraging and inspiring for some of us who have been out of the loop and need a good update. It would be great to not just list the the top ten blogs but as well have voters explain why they feel these blogs are worthy ... I'd also love to hear what the runner ups are ... Thanks Home Rejuvenation for organizing this project, you've helped inspire me to get back to blogging ... with taking some time off from many things, it's great to come back and read such positive energy coming from both you and the readers - cheers to a great article =)

- This one is more personal, but it helps to bridge Europe and North America in Graphic Design : "Graphisch Ontwerp", by Marie-Claude Doyon : http://blog.marieclaudedoyon.com/

my vote goes for IkeaHacker

I really must say your blog is sooo different from other crap I see around. We readers are constantly looking at an individual's unique viewpoints and depth of content when we read blogs.Otherwise, what's the difference between reading blogs and magazines??

Thanks for doing this, guys, but I really don't want to see those crappy blogs take the top spots in your poll. I'm waiting to be surprised.

For unique influences, I gotta go with Maryam in Marrakesh (mymarrakesh) and ikeahacker.

I also think that sfgirlbybay has the vintage modern thing absolutely nailed down and I like that most of what she features is about her lifestyle, styling her own apartment, shopping haunts, experiences, etc. and how it influences her design style.

Apartment Therapy gets my vote!

hi there! i think it's wrong to vote for (supreme) blog as DESIGN SPONGE. as a rule says: "The blog nominees should be less than 1 year old". i've readed it on laissezfairedesign.blogspot.com
