Just what kind of a world does we inhabit right now, really? A crazy one where houses are turned upside down and people stand on roofs? I can't bear to watch this anymore...

Call this a celebration of bad design. Yes, you didn't hear me wrong. I really do mean BAD design. They even published a book on this topic. But ask yourself: how do you define what's a good design if there's no bad ones around to compare? So maybe bad is good.

This tip seems more suitable for a home improvement blog, but I think talking about it here will put an end to my misery. 9 out of 10 of my clients like to ask me how to remove those tile grout stains in the bathrooms. I'm not sure if all designers are supposed to know how to answer that question, but I sure can't. Perhaps the people over at Charles and Hudson know much more...

Frankly, the number of interior designers who truly inspire me can be counted on the fingers of one hand. And I consider Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz to be one of them. His stylish and ethereal portfolio captures an unusual sense of openness and light through the deft use of colors and materials, as well as the unexpected integration of fashion. One word sums up his work - enthralling.

Coco Chanel’s luxurious entertainment pad on Rue Cambon is once open only to a few of Chanel’s best couture costumers and journalists. Now, everybody can tour around inside this perfumed paradise where Gabriel 'Coco' Chanel conducted business and entertained clients up till her passing. Oh, did I mention the word 'virtual'? More details here.

I already anticipated that many 'underrated' blogs will finally see the light of day when we conduct a poll to find the '10 most influential design bloggers (blogs)'. Enthusiastic readers and bloggers have been bombarding my email account daily with votes and even more recommendations (that's a good thing, keep at it), and the many quality blogs that pop up for the first time in my life is one huge reward for me. Not that I've finished going through the trove of mails yet, but these 2 blogs - Offbeat Homes and Grassroots Modern - simply demand immediate notice.

All I can say is that the house is done obviously to shock and amuse.

I tink taste is very subjective. We may feel that those homes are badly designed, but to the owners, their homes are the best.

Thanks for the mention! That's very nice. I'll have to send some link love back very soon. And I LOVE the upside down house. That's one I have not seen (rare; so always a happy moment).
