If there’s one Filipino designer who has penetrated the global market, it’s Budji Layug.

Budji's sculptural furnishings and interior designs have graced the world's most prestigious hotels, offices and residences. While bringing an international perspective to his designs, the designer/ artist also stays true to his native environment and roots. Lampacana, Narra wood, Pandan, Tanguile wood — these are just a few of exotic foliage of Budji's native country that have inspired his creations.

Budji also helped found Movement 8 - a group of designers including Eli Pinto, Kenneth Cobonpue, Carlo Cordero, Tony Gonzalez, Milo Naval, Ann Pamintuan, Tes Pasola, and Luisa Robinson - "to "give a non-fragmented face to Philippine furniture designers." The movement went on to capture many awards at annual furniture expos in Spain, Italy and New York's International Contemporary Furniture Fair.

Always thinking ahead from an global perspective and never settling for the status quo: that seems to be Budji's belief - and the secret to his success.
