We had a fun time at Swarovski's archeVisions event this past Thursday. Within the chic lobby and bar at Naumi Hotel - and amid the free flow of fine wines - brilliant Swarovski crystals took center stage. Seductive bead curtains lined up the walls and the entire ceiling has been turned into a white sky filled with glowing crystal stars.
The party truly showcases the best of what the Switzerland company has to offer in architectural and lighting design, with Tord Boontje's Blossom taking the lead. The chandelier, which was specially flown in for the event, is a remarkable art piece consisting of bejeweled branches. Just like other Boontje designs, intricate detailing and rich colors are apparent here.
Also, we are not about to forget the equally arresting Edra Flap sofa, which is draped in a special crystal fabric, any time soon. Some may call it elitist, but I like to see it this way: overlaying contemporary sofas and armchairs in shiny crystals contributes an aura of dream to living (provided that money is not an issue). After all, everybody only live once.
