If you're running out of money but has plenty of time on hand, tackling a bold wall treatment can be a very rewarding design undertaking, rendering an artistic touch to a space. Home owners Alistair and Blair Clarke commissioned artist Sun Kwak to design the walls and dining room floor of their Manhattan apartment. Kwak immediately rose to the challenge and achieved an unique look on the walls by applying..... ordinary black masking tape!
You can now avoid the cost of wallpaper and painting to create an interesting decor. And if you're staying in a rental unit where you can't really do anything 'permanent', you are in luck! Link

They look like paint splashes on walls. I like it.
