While most of us will probably be complaining about how depressing things can be with a footprint of only 425 square feet in the house, the folks at Specht Harpman Architects took the lack of space in their stride in this New York City apartment and created a lofty home which offers both style and space to the occupants.
The tall ceiling certainly helps. Proper planning of the internal volume allows for different areas for various activities to be allocated, while offering plenty of concealed storage. Even the compact bathroom is hidden away on the bottom floor beneath the staircase. Every detail is deliberately kept simple so that it will not overwhelm the tight quarters, making the home appear larger than it actually is.
